June S. Fetzer Eternal Sweethearts 1916 ~ 2011Comment on this story
Our dearest mother, June Alma Seyfarth Fetzer at the age of 95, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2011 at home and is now enjoying a reunion with her "Beau". June was born June 16, 1916 to Alma Elise Carlson and Edward Julius Seyfarth in Salt Lake City, Utah. Graduated from East High School in 1933 and then from the University of Utah with a B.A. in 1937. She married her high school sweetheart and best friend Emil B. Fetzer on June 14, 1940 in the Salt Lake Temple. Mom kept home and hearth while Dad traveled far and wide during the 25 years he served as the LDS Church Architect. Mom loved traveling with Dad, especially attending temple dedications around the world. Most of all, Mom and Dad loved being together. Mom was a fabulous homemaker and cook who always took care of her family with unselfish devotion. Mom was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her testimony and example as a valiant daughter of Heavenly Father are gifts she leaves for her posterity. She was active in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers as well as many Civic positions. She served as a Hostess at the LDS Church Office Building from 1981 to 1994 where she made many dear friends. Her favorite church calling was as a visiting teacher. Mom was our "Aerobic Grandma". She went to aerobics classes from age 60 until the age of 91. She loved to read, garden, sew and quilt. She was always ready to serve and to make everyone welcome in her home. She was never idle, she was like the energizer bunny who never stopped, in fact she went to the zoo on the day she passed away. She is survived by her five children: Juneil (Lynn) Lyon, Mark (Elaine) Fetzer, Margaret (Glen) Stoddart, James (Debbie) Fetzer and Janet (Michael) Jenkins; 20 grandchildren and 48 great-grand-children; sister-in-law, Lucile Fetzer; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, Emil B. Fetzer, parents, sister, Donna S. (Ward) Alvey, brothers; Walter E. (Vera Rae) Seyfarth and Howard J. Seyfarth. The family gives special thanks to Home Options Caregivers; Colleen Filbert, Rebecca Bean Shamy, Katelyn Hass Morrison and dear friend Lupe Teltelpa for their loving and tender care of Mom during the last couple years of her life. Funeral services for June will be held on Monday July 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Monument Park 17th Ward, 2795 East Crestview Drive (1100 South), Salt Lake City, Utah. Family and friends may call on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South and at the church on Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Please leave condolences for the family at www.larkinmortuary.com. We love you forever Mom, Grandma June and Grandma Great.
