Helen H. Allred 1926 ~ 2011

Mary Helen Harris Allred went home on July 3, 2011 in Bountiful, UT. Born in Randlett, UT, to Hannah Theresa Wall and Lorin John Harris, June 26, 1926, the first child of five children. Helen attended the U. of U. while working at LDS hospital. She trained as a Lab Technician and later earned her certification as the only Lab Technician in the Uintah County Hospital in Vernal, UT for nearly 30 years. Helen married Glen Ervin Allred August 24, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple. They are survived by five children: Gwen (Clark) Christian, Dale (Amy), Linda, Garth (Judy), Ann (Fred) Van Weerd; and one son - nephew Jay Dee Harris (Brenda), 36 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren; a brother Bill (Grace) and sister-in-law Elna. Preceded in death by her husband, Glen, sister Alice, brothers Lewis and Warren (Frosty), and a grandson Jacob Allred. She was devoted to her family and was active in the LDS Church where she was the Primary Pianist, Sunday School and Gospel Doctrine Teacher, as well as a devoted Visiting Teacher. She served two missions, an Indian mission in White Rocks, UT with her family (1969-1971) and a proselyting mission to the San Jose California Mission (1988-1990). Helen was an avid reader and scriptorian. She was never idle. Helen loved making Barbie doll clothes, clothing, special dresses for the granddaughters, Christmas stockings for the grandchildren, quilts and pajamas. She took classes in Levi's and underclothes making, cake decorating, refinishing and upholstering furniture. She loved to learn. We love you and will miss you. Funeral services will be held Sat, July 9, at 2:00 p.m. at the Val Verda 5th Ward, 2633 South 50 West, Bountiful, UT where a viewing will be held Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday one hour prior to the services.
