Bookmarks: Recently released hardbacks and paperbacks

Here are some books that have been recently released.

HARDBACK

"PACIFIC AIR: How Fearless Flyboys, Peerless Aircraft and Fast Flattops Conquered the Skies in the War with Japan," by David Sears, DaCapo, $27.50, 372 pages (nf)

The personal stories of many of the U.S. Navy's aviators in the air campaign in the Pacific are told within the military's history. The book looks at pilots who left their mark on aerial warfare history.

"FIRE AND RAIN: The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, James Taylor, CSNY and the Lost Story of 1970," by David Browne (nf): In 1970, many events shaped the music world and the author focuses on four music groups in the transition year of rock and roll and culture.

"INDIGO: In Search of the Color that Seduced the World," by Catherine E. McKinley (nf): The heritage of the dye that has appeared in many cultures around the world.

"THEY FIGHT LIKE SOLDIERS, THEY DIE LIKE CHILDREN," by Romeo Dallaire (nf): A look into the life of child soldiers in the author's quest to the eradicate child soldiers.

"THE RED MARKET: On the Trail of the World's Organ Brokers, Bone Thieves, Blood Farmers and Child Traffickers," by Scott Carney (nf): An investigative reporter delves into the stories of people and children who are mixed up in the black market of body parts or child traffickers.

"GRAVEMINDER," by Melissa Marr (f): A family is tasked with making sure that the dead stay where they are in this small town.

"FAITH," by Jennifer Haigh (f): A narrative of a family and the private consequences of accusations against a Catholic priest.

"THE SECRET HISTORY OF BALLS," by Josh Chetwynd, Perigree, $13.95, 205 pages (nf)
