HILLSBORO, Ore. — The Salt Lake Pegasus, a 16-and-under girls softball team claimed NSCA Valley Invitational title last weekend, going undefeated throughout the two-day tournament.
The first-year team wall all three games in pool play, going on to beat five other teams, including local favorite Hillsboro Blaze 4-0 in the final.
"It was nice to beat them on their own field," said assistant coach Kate Nygaard. "They were a good team."
It was the Pegasus' best showing of the season — they had taken second twice — and of five other Utah teams.
The team travels to another college showcase tournament, the Colorado Fireworks on June 27. It also play in the nationals in Chattanooga, Tenn., starting on July 31.
