Peter James Ramsey 1968 ~ 2011Comment on this story
On June 4, 2011 in Seward, Alaska our beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, Peter James Ramsey, left this existence.Peter was born on August 2, 1968 in Los Angeles, California on Sunset Boulevard, a source of great pride for him. He leaves behind proud parents Chuck and Lynn Ramsey of South Jordan, UT, formerly of Fairview, UT. Also surviving are his brother and best friend, Christopher (Suzanne) Ramsey, and five adoring sisters: Sarah (Wayne) Giles, Suzanne Towsley, Rachel Ramsey, Jessica (Bryce) Golden, and Rebecca (Tyler) Anderson. Pete leaves behind seven nieces and eight nephews and his grandmother, Ollie Stallcup, of Odessa, TX. He is also survived by his step-children: Elisha (Dan) Martinez, Ronnie (Jorie) Greenman, Ryan (Kaylee) Nemeyer and their children whom he loved and who called him "Papa". His ex-wife is Judy Smith. Peter was preceded in death by his grandparents Earl and Betty Ramsey of Fairview, UT. and Frank and Margaret Stallcup of Odessa, TX. Pete graduated from North Pole High School (Alaska) in 1986. He served The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Louisville, KY mission. He also worked in the Alaska oil industry, mostly on the North Slope with Epoch Well Services. Pete was renowned for his sense of humor, and was the brains behind many unforgettable Ramsey family adventures. Pete was always ready to rock, and was instrumental in instilling a love of rock-n-roll in his siblings, as well as his beloved nieces and nephews. He was a gifted musician and athlete and particularly loved baseball and sports trivia. To many of his nieces and nephews he was simply "Sweetie Petey". His ability and fondness for quoting movie lines was legendary. His kindness and boundless generosity left an indelible imprint on the lives of his family, friends, loved ones and co-workers. The stories will be recorded so that those still to come may know of him. Gabba gabba hey! While Alaska was his home, Peter will be laid to rest near family members in Utah on Friday, June 17, 2011. His viewing and funeral services will take place at Rasmussen Mortuary, 96 N. 100 W., Mt. Pleasant, Utah. The viewing is at 1:30 p.m. and funeral at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow immediately afterward at the Fairview City Cemetery. Another celebration of Peter's life will take place later in the summer in Anchorage, Alaska.
