Nellie Moulton Simmons Davis 1913 ~ 2011

Our wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Nellie Simmons, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2011, in Heber City, Utah, at 97 years young.Born October 17, 1913, in Heber City, Utah, to Thomas and Elizabeth Anderson Moulton. Married Wayne Simmons on January 15, 1932, later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Nellie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many callings: as primary worker, primary counselor, relief society counselor, and worked as head of relief society quilting committee for many years. She was also a longtime member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Mom loved making things with her hands and was an excellent homemaker. She had eight sisters that she loved to be with, especially her twin, Merle, who recently passed away in October 2010. Her husband, Wayne, died August 6, 1982, after enjoying 50 years of marriage. She later married Mack Davis and they were together for 25 years before his passing in April 2008. Nellie is survived by her children: Douglas (Mona) Simmons, Luana (Vern) Clegg, Dianne (Stan) Giles; step-children: Colleen (Jim) Knecht, Gloria Montgomery, Ronald Davis; and numerous grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Della, Grace, Virginia, Laura, Pearl, Merle, Lucille, Afton; brothers: Lynden and Clifford. We wish to express our gratefulness to Rocky Mountain Care, in Heber City, for the wonderful and loving care shown to our mother for over six years. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 16, 2011 - 1:00 p.m. in the Heber LDS Stake Center, 150 West 200 North, Heber City. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 11:30 - 12:30 p.m. prior to the services at the LDS Church. Interment will follow the services in the Charleston Town Cemetery.
