Mary Lou Durrant 1933 ~ 2011

Mary Lou Hartvigsen Durrant passed away peacefully on June 4th, 2011 at her home in Payson, Utah. She was born February 7, 1933 in Santaquin, Utah to Arthur and Margaret Hartvigsen. Mary Lou spent her growing-up years in Santaquin as a part of a large and loving family of 15 children. She attended schools in Santaquin and Payson, graduating from Payson High School in 1951. She married her high school sweetheart, Jim Durrant on August 23, 1952. The marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple. Mom was a member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities, having most recently served as a Ward Missionary and Temple Worker. Mom devoted her life to supporting her husband, children and grandchildren in their many endeavors. She is survived by six of her children, James (Vicky) Durrant, Tim (Linda) Durrant, Mary Kate (Jay) Shuler, Wendy (Jeff) Jasperson, Sandy Nilson and Richard (Evelyn) Durrant, 28 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three siblings, Asa Curtis Hartvigsen, Shirley Peterson and Marda Mendenhall, five sisters-in-law, Jessie Hartvigsen, Sybil Hartvigsen, Georgia Durrant, Alta Jo Durrant and Klara Jean Durrant and many loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Tammy Christensen, son-in-law Shawn Nilson, brother-in-law Tom Durrant and 11 siblings: Winnie, Jim, Elvera, Marge, Ruth, John Emil, Art, Margaret, Mel, Randy, and Tom. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at the Payson Utah South Stake Center, 711 South 600 East, Payson. A viewing will be held at Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West in Payson from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday evening, June 7th and at the Stake Center Wednesday morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Payson City Cemetery.
