Norma Lindsay Purrington 1920 ~ 2011Comment on this story
Norma passed away on June 2nd, 2011 at the age of 91. She was born March 31, 1920 in Salt Lake City, Utah to William Henry and Lula Bennion Lindsay Summerhays. Married Lloyd George Purrington on Feb. 13th 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah, he preceded her in death in 1980. Norma attended Salt Lake City schools and graduated from South High School. She joined the U.S. Army in the Womens Army Corps in 1943 and served in England and France as a Supply Sergeant through 1945. She was a member of the LDS church. Norma spent many years in the Electronics distribution industry working for S.R. Ross and Kimball Electronics. She retired from Lang Wayne Industries and then spent many pleasant and rewarding years as a volunteer at St. Marks Hospital in Salt Lake City. She received many awards and commendations for her years of service at St. Marks and had over 10,000 hours of volunteer time. Her favorite job at St. Marks was the information desk because as she always said "she got to tell people where to go." She spent an untold number of hours in service and help to friends and loved ones. She is survived by, her sister Marge Hovik, son Dave (Shelley), two grandchildren Brittany and Jason and eight great grandchildren Caitlynn, Camden, Carsen, Easton, Braden, Saylor, Ryker and Logan. Graveside services will be held on Monday, June 6th at 11:00 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn 2350 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City, Utah. Viewing one hour prior to services.
