Terry Doyle Ray 1949 ~ 2011

Terry Doyle Ray passed away on June 1, 2011 after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. He spent his final weeks of life surrounded by his devoted family who love him dearly. Terry was born December 30, 1949 in Cleveland, Mississippi to Evelyn and Doyle Ray. He graduated from Ruleville High School in Ruleville, Mississippi and then attended Mississippi State University. He met Sheila Spencer in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where they both worked for two summers. Terry and Sheila were married in the Ruleville Baptist Church in Ruleville, Mississippi in 1969 and were later sealed in 1973 in the Provo LDS Temple. Terry graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. He spent most of his career working for PacifiCorp in Salt Lake City, Utah and in Portland, Oregon. Terry also spent eight years, together with his family, living in Saudi Arabia as an employee of Saudi Aramco. He was adventurous and travelled the world with his family during those years in Saudi Arabia. Terry had an incredible passion for the outdoors. He spent many days camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, four wheeling, kayaking, and skiing with his wife, children, grandchildren, and friends. He served for many years as a Boy Scout leader, allowing him to mentor his own sons and many other boys. Terry had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and had a desire to share it with others. Terry and his wife Sheila recently completed an LDS church service mission in Kearns, Utah. Terry is preceded in death by his father, Doyle Ray and his granddaughter Ciara Ray. He is survived by his wife Sheila, daughter Jenni, sons Jason, Josh, Jared, Justin, and Jordan, his nine grandchildren, his mother Evelyn, and his sisters Donna and JoBeth. Terry loved his family dearly.
