Too bad Seal Team Six can't take out pornography

Osama Bin Laden was a pervert. He is also a dead pervert, thanks to Seal Team Six (a registered trademark of the Disney Corporation) and the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment. It should not be a surprise that the most hunted, the most loathed, the most diabolical mass murderer of this century would be drawn to pornography. The discovery of piles of the stuff in his now famous hideout completes the picture of a totally deprived human being. So while he was planning killings of innocent men, women and children, he was flipping through his files of dirty pictures. He was a renaissance man of total evil.

This connection of killing of thousands to sexual exploitation provokes the question of the possible cause and effect of pornography and destroying of others. Of course there are a lot of people who make pornography a multiple of billions dollar business who don't smash planes into tall buildings. But there is spiritual maiming and emotional, physical devastation and even deaths that follow such distorted human behavior.

The victims and perpetrators are left breathing and moving, but there are gaping emotional wounds in both that are soul killers. There is ruin of families, careers, trust, love and goodness that litter the streets of America and, it turns out, Pakistan. There are other terrorist parallels with the damage of sexual predators that follow the overstimulations of the senses. The self-destruction of the sexually abused is not unlike the occupants of the Twin Towers who leaped to their deaths rather than suffer the insufferable.

Though not a member of al-Qaida, the vilest homegrown domestic terrorist in my practice was a Christian church-going, quiet, slightly overweight father. The mother had brought in their daughters and son, who were having problems with depression. They all were doing poorly in school and in their private lives. The boy would isolate himself in his room with his extensive collection of knives. He had all kinds of sharp steel weapons. The daughters would come and sit on the floor, their faces in a book with limited eye contact and less interaction.

I did what doctors are supposed to do and obtained a history. Did I ask about abuse? I hope so, but I honestly don't remember. If I did or did not, the information was not forthcoming. It was only after the oldest girl got involved with drugs, moved out to a flop house of some kind, got pregnant and gave up the baby did the family secret come out.

The father was a monster. He started with self-gratification of pornography and moved on to the acting out on his own innocent children.
