Joyce Beckstead Seal 1924 ~ 2011

Joyce Beckstead Seal, 87, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2011 at her home in Midvale, Utah.She was born March 12, 1924, in Midvale, Utah, to Martin Adelbert Beckstead and Lillie Andrea Sjoblom. She grew up with her two brothers, Darrell and Doug, in Midvale and attended Jordan High School, where she was the student body secretary, an honors student and a member of the Charlonians. Joyce worked at the draft board where she met H. Max Seal. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on April 4, 1945 and are the parents of four children. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers. She is survived by her four children, Dr. Craig (Danyel) Seal, Dr. Kent (Joyce) Seal, Connie (Kim) Little, and Karen (Lynn) Mecham, 25 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren. Joyce treasured her family. They were her greatest joy. Throughout her life, Joyce served faithfully in many callings in the LDS Church. She volunteered at the Church History Museum for five years and spent over twenty years as a volunteer at Jordan Valley Hospital. She was very involved in the Midvale Arts Council, the Murray Women's Club, the Midvale Community Club and her high school alumni association, where she was recently inducted into the Jordan High School Hall of Fame. Joyce enjoyed traveling, reading, dining out and spending time with family and friends. We will greatly miss her loving associations, laughter, generosity, and cheerful nature. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at the Midvale Stake Center, 8171 S. Jackson St. A viewing will be held Tuesday, May 31, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, Utah, and Wednesday, June 1, from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Interment will be at the Midvale Cemetery.
