Ute skier, coach claim top awards
SALT LAKE CITY — Maria Graefnings of the University of Utah ski team was named the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association Female Skier of the Year, and Abi Holt earned the Nordic Coach of the Year award, the RMISA announced this week.
This is the third Skier of the Year award for Graefnings this season. She led Utah to a second-place NCAA finish in the women's Nordic competition, winning the 5K freestyle title for the first time in her career and finishing second in the 15K classical race. Holt guided Utah's Nordic squads to a superb season in her second year on the Utes' coaching staff.
Zabriskie wins u.s. time trial again
GREENVILLE, S.C. — Utahn David Zabriskie has won the U.S. pro cycling time trial championship for a fifth time. Zabriskie won Saturday's title by 31 seconds, completing the 20.7-mile course in Greenville in 40 minutes, 23.5 seconds. He won four titles in a row from 2006 to 2009 before sitting out 2010.
