Elden H. Mecham DDS 1929 ~ 2011

Dr. Elden H. Mecham, age 82, passed away peacefully May 20, 2011. He was born April 26, 1929 in Morgan, Utah, to his parents Arlin and Ada Mecham, who had a close knit family of three sons and two daughters. He grew up on the family farm, where he learned the value of hard work that served him well all his life. He was a devoted member of the LDS Church and served a mission in the Western States Mission, as well as many other church callings throughout his life. Elden also shared a love for his country and served in the Korean War. He attended Utah State University where he met his sweetheart Mary, who he loved and honored his entire life. They were married in the St. George Temple and celebrated 55 years of marriage together. He attended dental school and practiced dentistry for 32 years in SLC where he was respected by all his patients and dental staff. Elden loved the gospel of Jesus Christ, and was revered for his knowledge and passion for the scriptures, and loved to serve in the Salt Lake Temple. He also loved reading, history, drawing, model airplanes, classical music, ice cream, and his wife's famous pie. He was a kind and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and loved all of his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Mary, his sisters, (Marilyn, Goldie) and his children, Marie (Brent), Carolyn (Larry), Colleen, and Robert (Tamara) and nine grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers (Arlin, DeVon). The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses, and caregivers at the VA Hospital where he received excellent care. Funeral services will be held Thursday May 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing at 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at Mountain View 1 Ward, 1400 South 1900 East, SLC, UT. A viewing will be held Wednesday May 25, 2011 at 6-8 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive, SLC, UT. Interment Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
