Helen May Cooper Christopherson, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at the home of her daughter Carol-Lynne Malin, in Salt Lake City, Utah, surrounded by her loving family.Helen was born Sept. 17, 1921 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Leslie C. and Ann Muir Cooper. She was married to Enoch Vernon (Chris) Christopherson on June 24, 1940 in the Salt Lake Temple. Chris passed away on Jan. 10, 1988, after 57 loving years of marriage. An active member of the LDS Church, she served in numerous callings, including Relief Society President, Compassionate Service Leader, Activities Committee member, Primary teacher, and Bishop's wife. Helen was well known for planning ward banquets and funeral lunches. She was a member of the DUP, the Salt Lake Garden Club, The Distaff Club, several dinner clubs, a book club, and a bowling club. Helen was totally committed to her family and friends, and worked tirelessly to serve others. She'll always be fondly remembered for great Sunday dinners, games, and birthday cakes with money hidden in them. Christmas was her favorite time of year, when she and Chris prepared a gigantic breakfast on Christmas morning for her large family. She also loved breakfasts early in the morning up Millcreek Canyon. She is survived by her sisters, Virginia (Ed) Tinsley, Lucille (Jack) Dexheimer, brother Leslie Cooper; sons Vernon (Jerry) Christopherson, Dennis (Judi) Christopherson, Kenneth (Terri) Christopherson, daughters Carol-Lynne Malin, Vickie (Ken) Lambertsen, 22 grandchildren, and 51 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, sisters Marjorie Cooper and Elizabeth "Betty" Whipperman. A viewing will be held at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah on Sunday, May 22, from 6 to 8 PM, and one hour prior to funeral services at the LDS Chapel. Funeral services will be held at the Starcrest LDS Chapel, 874 N. Starcrest Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah on Monday, May 23, at 12 noon. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Lawn Cemetery.
