The Utah State Poetry Society has named Lee C. Snell of Highland as the 2011 poet of the year.
Snell's manuscript, "Night Wind Home," has also won the Pearl M. Olsen book award and will be published in October.
Other winners in the competition include Orlan Owen, Salt Lake City, second place; Pat A. Kimber, Salt Lake City, third place; and Candy Lish of St. George, Christie Cook of Sandy and Theda Bassett of Salt Lake City all received honorable mention.
