Verla Rae Smith Wanberg passed away on April 18, 2011 at the age of 83. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.She was born October 3, 1927 in Draper, Utah to Joseph L. Smith and Melissa Ann Fitzgerald. She married Kenneth L. Wanberg on Sept. 24, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a devoted mother and showed her children how much she loved them by her acts of kindness and love. She was an active member of the LDS Church all her life. She loved to travel with her sweetheart. They had many adventures together. She is survived by her children, Linda Marchant (Bruce), Lorna deJong (Martin), Sharlene Paul (David), LaMar Wanberg (Annette), Penny Uriarte (Howard); 19 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph Smith (Barbara); sisters, Wanda Allred and Reva Norris. Preceded in death by her sweet husband, Ken; parents; sisters, June, Ruth, Erma, Celestia; and brother, Arnold. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 22, at 12 noon at the Midvale 3rd Ward Chapel, 7825 So. Olympus St. There will be a viewing Thursday 6-8:00 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, and Friday 11-11:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Midvale City Cemetery.
