Naomi Joan Nokes Jergensen, 81, passed away from heart failure on April 6th, in Salt Lake City. Naomi was born in Boise, Idaho, to Herald T. and Mabel S. Nokes. Raised in Boise, she loved summering in McCall, Idaho. Naomi graduated with Honors in Music from the University of Idaho. After studying in New York City , she fulfilled an LDS mission to Paris, France. In 1957, she married Keith E Jergensen in the Idaho Falls Temple. After many years in St. Anthony, Idaho, they moved to Salt Lake City in 1969. They devoted their time to raising six children and were actively involved in community and church service. Naomi was an active member of the LDS Church. She served as a Family History Missionary from 1995 until her death. She directed the Mission's Elijah Choir and served as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple. Naomi is remembered for her generosity and soaring lyric soprano voice. Her passion for music touched lives and has been inherited by her posterity. Sharing her talent throughout the community and participating in Music Circle and Opera Appreciation Club brought Naomi much joy. Keith and Naomi were happily married 39 years before Keith's death in 1996. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother and sister. She is missed by her family: Mary Anne (Gene) Schmidt; Eric (Diane) Jergensen; Tamar (Tom) Cerafici; Maarn (John) Crepeau; Keri (Mack) Stoddard; and Kevin (Monica) Jergensen; 25 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held April 10th from 6 - 8:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary , 260 East South Temple. Funeral services are April 11th, 11:30 a.m., at the Ensign Stake Center, 135 North A Street. Friends and family may call from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Primary Children's Hospital, where Keith and Naomi served for many years.
