Shirley Manookin 1940 ~ 2011
Shirley Jean Baham Manookin, 71, passed away April 5, 2011 in Genola, UT. She was born March 3, 1940 in Madisonville, LA to Clarence Theodore and Yvonne Spell Baham. Shirley married Robert P. Manookin, Jr. May 7, 1975 and they were sealed in the Provo LDS Temple November 14, 1975. She joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints later in life, embracing and exemplifying the teachings of the gospel. Shirley was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She will be remembered for her countless hours of compassionate service. Shirley loved to bake, often bringing homemade meals, bread, or cookies to those who were struggling or in need. Beloved by all, Shirley was known for her selflessness and unconditional love to everyone around her. She had a special talent for making people feel important with her kind words and gentle encouragement, never speaking an unkind word of anyone. She is survived by her husband, Robert Manookin, Jr. and nine children; Teresa (Scott) Jones, Toni (Tom) Beard, Bonnie (Jon) Rosdahl, Mary (Brent) Hansen, Kathy (Gary) May, Debbie (Todd) Johnson, Bob (Janna) Manookin, Mike (Karen) Manookin, Matt (Sandra) Manookin; 34 grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and her brother, C.T. (Holly) Baham. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Joann Wells. A viewing will be held Friday, April 8th from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at Holladay-Brown Funeral Home, 66 South 300 East, Santaquin. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 9th at 11:00 a.m. at the Genola LDS Chapel, Center and Main. A viewing will precede the service from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Genola Cemetery.
