David Alma Hale, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, son, uncle and best friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 27, 2011. He was born in Oakley, Cassia County, Idaho on September 1, 1928 to Albert Henry Hale, Jr. and Mary Lucille Pettigrew Hale. He started his occupation as a truck driver at the age of nine when his father attached wooden blocks to the pedals of their truck. This was the beginning of Hale and Sons Trucking, which spanned 60 years and many millions of accident free driving miles. "Little Spur" lived out his passion as a real cowboy that started with riding and roping and finished with cowboy poetry, paintings and cowboy hats, but what he loved most was his 62 year love affair with his wife Lillie and their children, David Jr. and Debra. He married his sweetheart, Lillie Mae Pedersen on June 24, 1949 in Burley, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 28, 1965. David is survived by his wife, Lillie; son David Jr.; daughter, Debra; four grandchildren, David III (Jalene), Lincoln (Anna), Nicholas and Emily and three great grandchildren, Lincoln II, Shiloh and Micah; sisters, Helen Gray, Margaret Robinson and Martha (Edwin) Bench. Preceded in death by his mother and father and nine brothers and sisters and his granddaughter, Tricia Hale. Funeral services will be held at the Utah Sandy Crescent Ridge Stake Center, 1265 East 11000 South, Sandy, Utah on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services. Interment will be at the Farmington City Cemetery, 200 East 500 South, Farmington, Utah. Services under the direction of Larkin Mortuary.
