Pat Kirk Gardner 1931 ~ 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our Mother, Pat Gardner, who passed away on Saturday morning, March 26th, surrounded by her family. Carole Patsy Kirk was born in Salt Lake City on August 12, 1931 to Lyland and Florence Kirk. She graduated from East High School and the University of Utah in nursing, where she met her husband, Gawinn B. Gardner. They were married in 1953 in the Idaho Falls LDS temple. After many years residing in Las Vegas, Nevada, she returned to Salt Lake City with her husband following his retirement. Mom created beauty in her surroundings, especially for the holidays. She was known for her Christmas decorations and her Christmas cookies. She loved flowers, sunshine, and all things yellow. Her indescribable taste and simple elegance made any occasion special and beautiful. She touched many lives and was the ultimate caregiver. Sensitivity and awareness of others' needs led to selfless expressions of generosity and treasured relationships. Pat was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her brother, John Kirk (Carole); four children, Gayle, Susan (Ed Osika), Phillip (Jill), and Matthew (Katherine); seven grandchildren, Jennie, Adam (Alyssa), Gregory, Steven (Stacy), Scott, David, and Maggie. She will be missed immensely. We would like to thank everyone at Silverado Senior Living for their loving care of Mom. A tribute will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 1st, at Cottonwood Memorial Mortuary, 4670 S. Highland Drive. Friends and family are welcome to visit one hour prior. Pat will be laid to rest at Holladay Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to a cause you care deeply about and be kind.
