Ruth Evelyn Butrick Magee 1918 ~ 2011

Ruth Evelyn Butrick Magee, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, mother-in-law, and friend, passed away March 25, 2011 at the age of 92. She was born April 8, 1918 in Washington, D.C. to Arthur Burley Butrick and Harriet Leah Hart. She married Ernest Knight Magee, Jr. on May 23, 1953 in Haverhill, Massachusetts. They were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple. He preceded her in death. She attended public schools in the Washington, D.C. area and went on to receive a bachelors degree from American University and eventually a masters degree from Brigham Young University. A librarian by profession, she headed libraries for General Electric in Lynn, Massachusetts and later for Hercules Powder Company, Magna, Utah. She also served in public libraries. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many church callings. Her favorite Church responsibility was serving the single sisters in her ward. A lifelong student of the Scriptures, she rejoiced in the words of the prophets, ancient and modern. She was an avid reader and surrounded her family with good books. She is survived by her son, Robert (Jalene), granddaughter Anne Hart Magee, brother, Robert Warren Butrick (Peggy), Bryans Road, Maryland, three nieces and one nephew. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Jordan North 4th Ward, 4270 South Falcon Street with viewings Tuesday 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral home, 4330 South Redwood Road and again Wednesday 10-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park, West Valley City, Utah. Condolences may be offered at Mcdougalfuneralhomes.com website.
