Rebecca Lee Dew Watts 1957 ~ 2011

Rebecca passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Monday, March 21, 2011, due to complications with cancer. She was born January 1, 1957 to Lamar Owen and Veda Lindsey Dew in Salt Lake City, Utah. She grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from Olympus High School. She married the man who would become the love of her life, John Carter Watts, on January 6, 1978 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple; where they were sealed for time and all eternity. Together they had three children. Rebecca's children were her pride and joy. She was a beautiful homemaker who lived for making her house a home for her family. Rebecca was full of goodness and integrity. She selflessly served others positively touching all the lives she came into contact with. She will also be remembered for her wonderful cooking, her organizational skills used for putting on banquets, and luscious flower gardens. Before Rebecca became ill, she was working towards her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse. She had finished everything she needed to get into the nursing program, but fell sick before she could apply for the program. There is no doubt that she would have made a wonderful nurse because of the love and compassion she had for everyone around her. Rebecca is survived by her husband John Watts; her three children Angela Metekingi (Ariel), Michael Watts (Christiane), and Ryan Watts; her two granddaughters Valerie and Adelaide; her parents Lamar and Veda Dew; and her brothers and sisters William Dew (Jolene), Lindsey Dew (Vicki), Mary South (Michael), Rachel Allen (Elgin). Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 26, 2011, at the LDS chapel on 12270 South 1190 East at 11:00 a.m. Viewings will be held at the same location as the funeral: Friday, March 25, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and also an hour prior to the funeral services from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Interment to follow funeral services at Larkin Sunset Gardens on 10600 South and 1950 East. www.larkinmortuary.com
