CEDAR CITY — The Southern Utah University women's gymnastics team will be looking to defend its 2010 conference title this weekend when the Thunderbirds compete in the Western Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday at San Jose, Calif. The meet begins at 7 p.m.
The Thunderbirds will enter the meet as the second-highest ranked squad in the conference, at No. 33 in the nation, with Boise State leading the way as the Broncos are currently No. 13. BSU was picked to win the WAC title in the preseason poll, with SUU picked to finish second.
Southern Utah will also enter Saturday's meet with a great deal of momentum, as the T-Birds have scored two of their three highest scores of the season over the past two meets. The T-Birds will also benefit from the return of junior Brooke Cersosimo on vault and beam.
