Shirley C. Petersen Together Again

STERLING, UTAH - Shirley Christensen Petersen passed away March 12, 2011 in Centerfield.She was born April 3, 1925 in Centerfield to Leo L. and Louise Jensen Christensen. She married Oscar Dale Petersen, December 14, 1952 in Sterling, the marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. He preceded her in death August 31, 2003. She proudly served in World War II as a Navy Wave; worked at ZCMI in Salt Lake City, eventually moving back to Sanpete Valley to work with her husband on the family dairy farm. She was an active member of the LDS Church, a member of the DUP and was active with 4-H. She is survived by her children, Mary Ann Peterson, Joan (Ivan) Munk, Dale Ray (Susan) Petersen; six grandchildren; nine great-grand-children; sisters, Beth Wilson, Joy Merriam; sister-in-law, Chiyo Christensen. Also preceded in death by, parents; grandchildren, Tina, Teresa and Trevor Peterson; brothers, Larry L Christensen, Keith L Christensen; sisters, Leona Lewis, Wenona Perry, Elaine Yinger; brothers-in-law, Orin Lewis, Hyrum Wilson, Drew Merriam. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 18, 2011 at 12:00 Noon in the Sterling LDS Ward Chapel. Viewing at the ward chapel in Sterling, Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Sterling Cemetery with military rites by the Manti American Post #31.
