SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Arts Festival and Art Access/VSA Utah are joining forces to cover Salt Lake City in handmade sweaters. The two groups are recruiting "rogue knitters" to cover parking meters, light poles, benches and trees in handmade knitting or crochet.
Experienced knitters and crocheters, or those wanting to learn and be trained in "graffiti" knitting practices, are invited to join the Random Acts of Art group on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Utah Arts Festival headquarters, 230 S. 500 West, Suite 120.
A knitting installation will then be revealed June 18 on Washington Square in Salt Lake City to coincide with World Wide Knit-in-Public Day. Mini "knit-ins" will take place now though June, with a final knitting rally to be staged during the Utah Arts Festival June 23-26 downtown on Library Square.
