LAS VEGAS — BYU's Jimmer Fredette became the school's all-time leading scorer, surpassing Danny Ainge, and broke his own school single-game scoring record, by exploding for 52 points Friday night.

Oh, and by the way, the No. 8 Cougars finally defeated New Mexico, ending a four-game losing streak to the Lobos, with an emotional 87-76 victory at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Top-seeded BYU (30-3) avenged the Lobos' regular-season sweep and advanced to the Mountain West Conference Tournament finals against the winner of the San Diego State-UNLV game.

Jimmer's crazy good. I'm not sure how the team will manage to be anywhere near as good as it is this year without him around but for now enjoy the ride.

Why would Rose ever bail for the trainwreck up north?

Oh, and Jimmer has 33 pts. with BYU leading 47-42 at half.

New Mexico is about to be"Jimmered" out of the tournament.
