Verl J. Rolfe 1931 ~ 2011

Our loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grand-father, Verl J. Rolfe, passed away February 25, 2011 following a valiant struggle with cancer. He was born September 24, 1931 to Horace Asher and Elvira (Ward) Rolfe in SLC, Utah. He spent his early years in Granger, Utah, where he received his formal education. He was called to serve in the Korean War, and was proud to stand as a Marine! He met his 'Sweetheart' Elaine (Emery) and married her on February 14, 1955 in SLC, Utah. Marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Verl founded Rolfe Construction Co. in 1959 and lived a life dedicated to family, work and service. He served in the LDS Church in the Bishopric, as a Bishop, Counselor in the Branch Presidency, Ward Missionary and in numerous leadership positions. He and Elaine lived in the Salt Lake area prior to making their home in Midvale, Utah where they have resided for 49 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Elaine (Emery) Rolfe, and their children, Kim (Joye) Rolfe, Kelly (Kevin) Dawson, Kerry (Sharron) Rolfe, Kandie (Stacy) Hale, Kurt (Nancy) Rolfe; all whom reside in the Salt Lake area. Two sisters, Maxine Di Sera and Sally Hansen; and 23 'precious' grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, who were the 'joy of his life!' He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Clair B. Rolfe. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Union Fort 5th Ward, 500 E. Larchwood Drive (6770 S.), Midvale, Utah. Viewings will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. So. Jordan Pkwy (10600 S.) and on Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 at the church. Interment at Redwood Memorial, 6500 So. Redwood Rd., Taylorsville, Utah.
