Wendy Wood 1954 ~ 2011
OGDEN, UTAH - Wendy Wood slipped peacefully from this life on February 24, 2011 in Ogden, Utah following a cerebral hemorrhage.She was born March 14, 1954 in Rexburg, Idaho to Wayne and Delores Wood and was raised in Rigby, Idaho. She was the eldest child and remained a devoted big sister until her passing. She graduated from Rigby High School in 1972 as class valedictorian. She graduated from Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah in 1976 with a degree in History and Anthropology. Wendy worked for the Utah Department of Health from 1977 to 1988 as a research analyst and auditor. She then decided to follow her heart and devoted herself to the creation of pottery and teaching others the joy of mud. Since 1988, she has taught pottery classes in Salt Lake City and Ogden. Since 1994, she has been actively involved in the management, organization and operation of the Red Kiln Gallery and Studio. She also worked as a business writer, technical editor, and organization evaluator. She served in many capacities in the LDS Church and magnified each calling with her full devotion. At the time of her passing, she was teaching Relief Society and would prepare months in advance for each lesson. She is survived by her mother, Delores, and her sisters Lisa (Paul) Hardyman, Denise (Jake) Hughes, Connie Wood, and Janeen Elkins, and brother, Ted (Carolyn) Wood. She was a doting and devoted aunt to her nieces Megan, Sarah, Rebecca and nephews, James, Stephen, Nathan, Matthew, Daniel, and Adam and great-nephews, Jaxson and Cameron. She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne, and brother, Curtis Wayne. In lieu of flowers, please donate to any organization that promotes the arts and art education. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Church on 435 N. Jackson Ave. in Ogden, Utah. A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 and 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. prior to services at the church. Interment will be at the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery in Rigby, Idaho following a brief graveside service at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011.
