Donna Emma Nichols Smith passed away February 24, 2011 in Riverton, Utah. She was born August 1, 1922 in Murray, Utah to George Ervin and Emma Butler Nichols. Donna retired from the Utah State Fish and Game as an executive secretary. She enjoyed family, shopping and going out to lunch, as well as reading and crocheting until she lost her sight. She was generous and caring, and was always around to help anyone in need. Donna will be remembered as a person that was not afraid to stand up for what she believed in or write a letter to the editor when she had something to say. Donna was preceded in death by her loving husband, Raymond Hyrum Smith, as well as her brother Allen Nichols and twin brother Don Nichols. Donna is survived by her four children, Steven Ray Smith (Dorrine), Cheryl Lee Jensen (Paul), Deborah Lynne Jelsma (Gary), and Scott Donald Smith (Sharyn), brother, Marlo Nichols (Betty), Weldon Nichols (Fred Beckett), sister Rosalie Nielsen (Ev), 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Murray City Cemetery. A viewing will be held prior to graveside services from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
