LuRee Beckstead Eklund 1924 ~ 2011

LuRee Beckstead Eklund was born in South Jordan, Utah on March 29, 1924 to Benjamin David and Edith Webb Beckstead. She was joyfully reunited with her eternal companion on February 16, 2011.She married her sweetheart, Gus Alma Eklund, the love of her life, in Evanston, Wyoming on April 18, 1942. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on July 1, 1963. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was especially admired and adored by her great grandchildren. She found immense pleasure as a dedicated homemaker to her husband and daughters. She was a gifted seamstress with a passion for machine embroidery. She was a self-taught artist who shared her talent of drawing and fondness for sewing with her first great granddaughter, Haileigh LuRee. Mom assured her home was always ready to welcome friends and family, with a clean floor and a treat to share. Her granddaughters were the recipients of many recipes that she created, as she was a happy and accomplished cook. When her daughters were young, she found great joy serving in the PTA. Faithful service in the Relief Society and Primary was a lifelong blessing to her and those she served. Survived by her two daughters, Nancy (Randy) Mullen and Bonnie (Dwaine) Torgersen; son-in-law, John Turley; six grandchildren, Benjamin (Amberlie) Torgersen, Mollie (Aaron) Farnsworth, Emily (Heath) Weber, Brett Turley, Allison Turley, and Melissa Turley; eight 1/2 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, at 1p.m. at the Midvale East Stake Center, 240 E. 7570 S. Friends and family may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S.
