OGDEN — A tax advisory board in Utah is balking at recommending $2.4 million toward a $40 million sports complex in Ogden.
The Standard-Examiner of Ogden reported the Weber County Recreation, Arts, Museums, Parks panel rejected a grant application on Monday as incomplete because it failed to demonstrate the city had the needed property or financing.
Mayor Matthew Godfrey says he's still committed to the Ogden Field House project, and city Chief Administrative Officer John Patterson says efforts will continue to solicit contributions.
The proposed five-acre project would include a 60,000-square-foot water park, Olympic-sized swimming pool, tennis courts and a 250-meter bicycling race track.
The Weber County Commission will have final say whether any money will be awarded.
