Roberta Evans Sorensen Preece "Together Again"

Roberta, 89, our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grand-mother, passed away gracefully in her sleep on 10 February 2011 of causes incident to age.She was born 5 June 1921 at Eureka, Utah, to Robert Benjamin Evans and Martha Maria Morrison. Roberta was raised by an uncle and aunt, Charles and Isabella Morrison. She attended schools in Scipio and Fillmore. She married her childhood sweetheart, Void Sorensen, in 1938. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. They were the parents of five children. Void preceded her in death in 1952, just prior to the birth of their last daughter, leaving her to raise their five children alone. Roberta was a homemaker and enjoyed baking, crocheting, coin and stamp collecting, and quilting -especially quilting. She was active in the LDS Church serving as a Primary teacher, Cub Scout leader, and Visiting teacher. Survived by a son, Robert (Susan) Sorensen, and three daughters, Mickey Hodges, Shauna Shopay, all of Salt Lake, Nadalynn (Gary) Bryner, Albuquerque, NM; 21 grandchildren; and 46 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Carol (Calvert) Cazier; a grandson; and a great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 14, 2011 at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home, 4760 South State Street, where friends may call Sunday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00-9:45 a.m. prior to the services.
