FARMINGTON — Davis County officials have marked the start of a $19.6 million Memorial Courthouse campus renovation in downtown Farmington.
Ground was broken Tuesday for the project, which is set to include a three-story administrative office building, a main branch library and a children's justice center.
The Standard Examiner of Ogden reported Wednesday that work will require demolition of four county buildings and construction is expected to take almost two years.
County Commissioner Louenda Downs says the project reflects the growth of Davis County, which now has a population topping 300,000.
Kevin Blalock is the principal architect, and Wadman Construction of Ogden is doing the work.
County Commissioner Brett Millburn says Davis County was able to borrow for the project at affordable rates that won't place an additional burden on the taxpayer.
