OAKLAND, Calif — While there was hope that Deron Williams would rejoin his teammates on the floor for the Jazz, he was ruled out of the game after the morning shootaround for their game against the Golden State Warriors Sunday night.

The 6-foot-3 Jazz captain would have posed a serious mismatch for the Warriors' small backcourt, but according to head coach Jerry Sloan, it won't have an effect on how they game play their West Coast host.

"We'll still try and run the same stuff for the most part, just have a different guy doing it," said Sloan. "(We'll) try to push the ball a little bit more, maybe. Earl has been able to do that for us some, but you don't replace guys like (Williams). You just put someone in their position and do what you can to try and win."

Williams' right wrist strain is still bothering him, and Sloan wasn't sure what sort of time frame his star guard would be out of action.

"We never rush anybody back," said the head coach about team injuries. "When he's ready to play, that's when we'll put him on the floor."

Center Mehmet Okur didn't make the trip, and received an epidural shot on Saturday with the hope that he won't miss six games like he did earlier in the season with the same injury. While Sloan confirmed the treatment on his oft-injured center from Turkey, he had no new information regarding the success of it.

"He's still alive. I know about that," Sloan joked when asked for an update.
