Hope M. Layton 1929 ~ 2011

BRIGHAM CITY - Hope Mickley Layton, 81, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2011 from a stroke at Willow Glen Care Center.Hope was born in Chicago, IL on April 8, 1929, a daughter of Carl W. and Erzel Johnson Mickley. She married Lionel H. (Bud) Layton on December 22, 1954 in the LDS Logan Temple. Hope's major work was as a homemaker and peacemaker for her family. She was able to lend a listening ear to those in need and she enjoyed a good story. She was active in the LDS Church throughout her life, she was a stalwart, working in Relief Society and primary. She served an LDS Mission before her marriage in the Spanish American Mission. She served along side her husband in scouting for many years. Surviving are her children: Carl (Tresea) Layton, Bear River City; Bea Layton, Salt Lake City; three grandchildren and a brother, C. Weston Mickley, Chicago, IL. Preceded in death by her parents and husband, Bud. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brigham City 5th Ward Chapel, 420 S. 800 W., Brigham City. Viewing on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary and on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. at the Church. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
