Irvin Clay "Bud" Layton 1924 ~ 2011

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and neighbor passed away Friday, January 21, 2011 from congestive heart failure and diabetes, surrounded by his family. Bud was born on November 9, 1924 in Woods Cross, Utah. He was the only son of James Irvin Layton and Esther Clay. He was named Irvin Clay Layton but everyone knew him as Bud. He married the love of his life, Helen Gunn. Together they had four children, James Gary (Sandy) Layton, Mary Ellen Layton Toone, Judy (Daniel) Jones, and David Gunn (Cariann) Layton. Bud lived a life of service to his family and fellow man. He served in the US Navy during World War II and in the National Guard prior to the Korean Conflict. He was a police officer for many years and worked as the 1st street superintendent for West Bountiful City. He held many callings in the LDS church. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen, his four children, 15 grandchildren, 38 great-grand-children, three great-great-grand-children, and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 27, 2011 at the West Bountiful 1st Ward, 311 N. 800 W., West Bountiful. Friends may call Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main, and Thursday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment Lakeview Cemetery.
