After months of talks aimed at bringing Anthony from Denver to New Jersey, the Nets' new owner announced that his team was ending the drawn-out trade talks with the Nuggets.
Prokhorov said the talks had become too public, taken too long and had hurt his team, so he pulled the plug on the proposed deal that featured as many as 15 players and three teams.
HORNETS 103, GRIZZLIES 102, OT: At New Orleans, Marcus Thornton broke up an inbounds pass with 14 seconds left in overtime and then finished a fast break with a reverse layup, extending New Orleans' winning streak to six.
Chris Paul had 20 points and 12 assists, and corralled the critical loose ball that was tipped by both Thornton and Trevor Ariza. Paul then raced up court and passed to Emeka Okafor, who bounced a pass to Thornton under the hoop.
Rudy Gay, who had 22 points, had one last shot to win it for Memphis, but his jumper near the top of the key bounced off the back rim.
David West had 19 points, 11 rebounds and three blocked shots for the Hornets, while Okafor added 11 points and 11 rebounds. Thornton finished with 17 points.
MAVERICKS 109, LAKERS 100: At Dallas, Jason Kidd broke out of an awful shooting slump to score a season-high 21 points, and Jason Terry and Shawn Marion provided solid scoring as reserves, helping the Dallas Mavericks end an ugly six-game losing streak.
Kidd made 8 of 12 shots after going 1 of 14 over his previous two games. Terry and Marion scored 22 each.
The club made a similar turnaround, going from five straight losses by at least 10 points each — their worst such stretch since their woeful days in the mid-1990s — to a convincing win over the two-time defending champions.
SPURS 104, RAPTORS 95: At San Antonio, DeJuan Blair had 22 points and 11 rebounds to help the San Antonio Spurs rally from an 11-point halftime deficit for their seventh straight victory.
Manu Ginobili scored 23 points and Tony Parker added 17 for the Spurs, who improved their NBA-best record to 36-6, their best ever after 42 games.
DeMar DeRozan scored 28 points for the Raptors, who lost their fifth straight and ninth in the last 10 games.
The Spurs surged into the lead midway through the third quarter. Tim Duncan's turnaround jumper to open the third got the Spurs off to a solid start, starting a 15-4 run to tie it at 57 when Duncan found a cutting Blair for back-to-back running layups.
TRAIL BLAZERS 94, KINGS 90, OT: At Sacramento, Calif., Nicolas Batum scored a season-high 24 points and LaMarcus Aldridge had 23 to lead the Trail Blazers to an overtime victory.
The Blazers have won three straight overall and eight in a row against the Kings. Andre Miller had 20 points, six rebounds and six assists, and Rudy Fernandez scored 13 of the bench for Portland.
The Blazers outscored the Kings 9-5 in overtime.
Beno Udrih scored 20 for the Kings, who and just returned home from a 1-5 road trip.
Tyreke Evans had 16 points and eight assists, and Samuel Dalembert had a season-high 15 points and 12 rebounds.
WARRIORS 110, PACERS 108: At Oakland, Calif, Monta Ellis made a jumper with less than a second remaining to give the Warriors a victory over the Pacers.
Ellis scored 36 points for the Warriors, who matched their season high with their third straight victory. David Lee and Dorell Wright each added 21 points as Golden State beat the Pacers at home for the fifth straight time.
Danny Granger had 32 points and 13 rebounds for the Pacers, who lost their third straight overall and their 11th in the last 12 road games. Tyler Hansbrough added 16 points and Jeff Foster matched his season high with 15 rebounds.
CLIPPERS 126, TIMBERWOLVES 111: At Los Angeles, Blake Griffin had 29 points and eight rebounds as the Clippers won their third straight game.
