Harold Jay Stoner 1910 ~ 2011

Beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away peacefully January 14, 2011 in American Fork, Utah.Harold was born January 6, 1910 in Palmyra, New York to Elizabeth Minnie Blankenberg and Lewis John Stoner. He lived with his parents at the Joseph Smith farm for five years where he joined the LDS church. And then for 12 years Harold called the Peter Whitmer farm his home. He married Margaret Elizabeth Gunn on August 14, 1937 in Rochester, New York. In October 1937 their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He worked as a chemist for Eastman Kodah for 37 years. He loved to read, ponder and teach and was knowledgeable in many subjects. He disliked waste and was very frugal all his life and expected others to do likewise. He worked hard for and was proud of his family. Harold was one of a few LDS church members who worked tirelessly in many church callings for more than 75 years to strengthen the Church in upstate New York. He served with his wife in the Washington D.C., Toronto, and Palmyra Temples. Harold was preceded in death by his wife Margaret and sister Eileen. He is survived by his three children: Janice, Roy (LaDeane) and Mark (Sharon). Grandchildren: Darin (Jeri) Stoner; Tiffany (Michael) Drummond, Brock (Julie) Stoner, Brendan (Cheryl) Stoner, Ashley (Erik) Peterson and Graydon (Kristy) Stoner; 21 great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff of Heritage Care Center, Alpha Omega Hospice, and the LDS Heritage Branch. We also express special appreciation to Ed and Joan VanDuzer, Paul and Linda DeGraff and the New York Brockport Ward.
