Utah Utes gymnastics: Youthful Utes pulled off rare feat

Summary

The University of Georgia is one of the most intimidating places for a visiting collegiate gymnastics team to compete. The crowd is a little more vocal than other places, and the Gym Dogs are so good they hadn't lost in Stegeman Coliseum in the regular season since 1995.

MORE RANKINGS: The Utes, who had difficulty all last season with balance beam, are now tied for second in the rankings on that event with a 48.938 season average.

Despite being 2-0 with wins over two highly ranked teams, the Utes fell from third to fourth in this week's overall rankings because they are based solely on season-average score until Feb. 14.

Southern Utah, which also beat UCLA, ranks No. 20; BYU is No. 33 and Utah State No. 35.

In event rankings, Utah's fourth on vault with SUU 20th, 11th on bars with BYU 20th and 14th on floor behind SUU, which is tied for 10th.

This team might be half freshmen but they seem to really be a "team". As a fan, that is very refreshing to see them all get along! Congrats on the big wins! I can't wait until the next meet! (seems like they have been away forever!)
