Louise Brown 1926 ~ 2011

Dora Louise Brown, age 84, passed away on January 11, 2011, in Salt Lake City, surrounded by her family.She was born on June 27, 1926, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Charls M. and Nellie M. Francis Sallia. She married James D. Brown on February 1, 1946, in Indianapolis, Indiana; the marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Louise joined the LDS Church at the age of 19 in Indianapolis and has been an active member since then serving faithfully in the organizations of the church. She had a great love of music from the time she was very young and developed an extensive knowledge of classical music and opera. She was a lead soprano with the Utah Chorale and sang with the Chorale for over 25 years. She had a passion for genealogy and spent many years doing family history research. She is survived by: sons and daughter, James D. Jr. (Elaine) Brown, Charles David (Mary) Brown, Shirley K. (Douglas) Angel, Joseph C. (Melanie) Brown, Phillip E. (Leslie) Brown, 33 grandchildren and 41 great- grandchildren and a brother Charles Edward Sallia. She was preceded in death by her husband James D. Brown, parents Charles M. Sallia and Nellie M. Langford and sister Barbara King. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Willow Wood Care Center for all the compassionate care they gave her for the last year and a half. And also thanks to the One Care Hospice for there additional care. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 15, 2011, at 12:00 noon at the Holladay 1st Ward meetinghouse located at 2065 East 4675 South. Friends may call on Friday, January 14, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the Cottonwood Memorial Mortuary located at 4670 South Highland Drive and 11:00 - 11:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Holladay Memorial Park at 4900 South Memory Lane.
