BYU football: Brandon Doman named Cougars' offensive coordinator; Kelly Poppinga also promoted

Doman, who was instrumental in the development of former quarterbacks John Beck and Max Hall, as well as freshman Jake Heaps this past season, said he is grateful for all he's learned and experienced the past six years working with Mendenhall and Anae. Doman added that he's looking forward to what's to come.

"I have great confidence in who the players are and I have great confidence in the players who are coming in," he said. "And I have great confidence in the future of this football program."

Asked about his offensive philosophy, Doman said, "I've learned enough football over the last while as a player and coach that you create the offense around the talent you have. That will be sorted out over time, over the next few months ... We have an awesome foundation that's been here for 30 years. I would foresee us being very balanced and difficult to defend."

Added Doman: "I want to throw the football and be very good at it. I love throwing the football."

Spoken like a former BYU quarterback.
