CINCINNATI — Receiver Chad Ochocinco was inactive for the Bengals' final home game Sunday against San Diego because of a bad left ankle.
Ochocinco missed two practices and was limited in a third last week because of the ankle. He says he's got a bone spur that will need surgery after the season. Coach Marvin Lewis suggested he was being "mopey."
It's the first time Ochocinco has been inactive since the final two games of the 2008 season. The Bengals have a $6 million contract option for next year on Ochocinco.
The Chargers were missing tight end Antonio Gates, resting a sore right foot in case San Diego makes the playoffs. The Chargers need to win their last two games and have Kansas City lose once to give them the AFC West title.
