John G. Walter was born on December 20, 1921 in Outlook, Montana. He passed away on December 17, 2010 at the age of 88. John was the son of John L. Walter and Phyllis L. Walter. John was raised on a farm in Montana. He loved bowling, basketball, fishing, hunting and dancing with his wife. He spent 5 years during the war in Pearl Harbor, working on damaged ships and building underground oil tanks. After the war he spent 9 months in South Korea in the Army. John worked as a welder at American Oil for 35 years. John was married to Jeannine Catherine Hatcher for 62 years and had 5 children. John is survived by his wife Jeannine Walter; their children Renae Ballard, Reed Walter, Corinne Abuhamdy (Moayyad), Lori Cook (Marc); 4 grandchildren, Amber Walter, David Ballard, Cherise Cook & Josh Cook. John was preceded in death by his father John Walter, mother Phyllis Walter, 4 brothers, son Doug Walter and granddaughter Cindy Lee James. He was a wonderful husband and father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and his special dog, Rocky. We want to thank the Avalon Rehab Center, doctors and Rocky Mountain Hospice, as well as Larkin Mortuary for all their kind help. Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 22nd, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, where family and friends may gather one hour prior.
