Marie Florence Holder Hutchings 1920 ~ 2010
Marie Florence Holder Hutchings, 90, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2010 in American Fork, surrounded by her loving family.She was born July 29, 1920 in Provo, Utah to William John and Florence Strong Holder. She attended schools in Provo, and Elko, Nevada. She graduated from Elko County High school and LDS Business College in Salt Lake City. She married Harold C. Hutchings on July 23, 1943 in the Logan LDS Temple. They lived in Kingman, Arizona until after World War II. When they moved back to Lehi in 1946, she and Harold founded Hutch's Lone Eagle Trading Post, which later became Hutch's Home Furnishings and has been in business ever since. She worked there until age 89 1/2 . They not only worked together in the business, but they enjoyed collecting minerals, bird eggs, and other artifacts for the John Hutchings' Museum of Natural History. Marie was always active in the community. She served two terms as Chamber of Commerce president, Chamber secretary, and Chairman of the Gift-O-Ramma for many years. She also served as a board member and secretary for the Hutchings Museum, and as a member of the Lehi Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She held various positions in the LDS Church. In 1990, as a thanks and recognition for their many years of service to the community, Harold and Marie were chosen as Grand Marshalls for the Lehi Round-up Parade. She will be remembered for her love of traveling, gardening, playing games with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her greatest love was her husband and family. She is survived by her children: Galynn Donovan, Kathleen (Alan) Pace, Esther (Kent) Sumsion, Jim (Karla) Hutchings, and Bret (Janys) Hutchings. Her sisters: Virginia Brown and Leona Jones, sisters-in-law: Madge Hutchings and Shirley Wood. 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Harold C. Hutchings, son-William H Hutchings, and granddaughter Kathryn Pace. Viewing will be Sunday, December 19, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wing Mortuary in Lehi. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 20, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. with viewing between 9:00 and 10:30 a.m. at the Lehi 12th Ward, 1149 North 300 West, Lehi. Interment, Lehi City Cemetery.
