PROVO — The BYU football program has signed a deal to play in the 2013 Fight Hunger Bowl in San Francisco.

The Cougars will be replacing the Western Athletic Conference representative in the game and they are expected to be been matched up against a Pac-12 opponent.

BYU, which is starting its first year as an independent football program next season, has been looking for bowl agreements and the Fight Hunger Bowl — formerly known as the San Francisco Bowl and the Emerald Bowl — and the bowl game has been looking for a new arrangement, what with four teams leaving the WAC over the next two years.

If BYU reaches a Bowl Championship Series game, or is not bowl eligible in 2013, the Fight Hunger Bowl has agreed to invite a WAC team instead.

The Fight Hunger Bowl is played in January at AT&T Park in San Francisco. This year's matchup is between Nevada and Boston College on Jan. 9.

Hey live hard we'll be making the money next year, while utah will be making $0 yes $0 dollars from tv revenue next year. Nice deal yes you get to play in the Pac 12, but they aren't even sharing money with you next year. Lucrative yes $$$$$$ More..

Just as a point of clarification. I don't think this is Jake's senior year. The bowl is in January, so this will be a bowl for the 2012 season, but played in 2013.
Can Cougar fans please stop saying things like, the Utes will end up in this More..

not exactly a high-profile game, but at least we have SOMETHING worked out--by the way, the Cougs should be really, REALLY good that year.

oh and because the deal is usually PAC-12 #5/6 vs WAC, don't be surprised to see the Utes there on a More..
