WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: The Salt Lake Community College women's basketball team has opened the 2010 season with four wins. The Bruins will host the annual SLCC Tournament this weekend with games against Northwest College and Eastern Arizona. Sophomore Haley Holmstead leads the nation in scoring with 30.7 points per game. The Bruins jumped 10 spots in the recent NJCAA poll as they now sit No. 15.
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: The Salt Lake Community College volleyball team closed out the 2010 season with a fourth-place finish at the NJCAA Nationals. They completed the season with a record of 28-8 with major wins over undefeated Miami Dade, North Idaho and Southern Idaho. The Bruins came into the match with a two-game winning streak over Western Wyoming; third time's the charm for Wyoming as they rolled over Salt Lake in three sets 25-12, 25-20 & 25-13. It was a match Salt Lake would soon forget as they hit .146, served 10 errors with 8 reception errors and gave away 15 points in attacking errors. No Bruin finished in double digit kills, Erika Charry led the team with eight kills followed by Ame White's six kills. Anna Burgess dugout 12 balls and Catalina Charry finished with 22 sets assists. Head Coach Sue Dulaney was named District B Coach of the Year and Catalina Charry was named to the NJCAA All Tournament team.
