MOAB — The Utah Highway Patrol has released the identity of the 10-year-old Moab boy who died Saturday after being struck by a truck.
Yovani Lopez-Luna was in a group crossing from the west side to the east side of U.S. 191 when a pickup truck pulling a flatbed trailer struck him, Utah Highway Patrol spokesman Brian Hyer said. The boy later died at an area hospital.
The driver, a 21-year-old Moab man, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and was booked into Grand County Jail. Hyer said the crash is still under investigation and law enforcement officers are working with the Grand County Attorney's Office to determine whether formal charges will be filed.
