WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Sophomore Haley Holmstead scored 44 points, breaking the previous record of 40 which she held, in Salt Lake Community College's 96-72 win over Northwest College on Friday night in the Snow College tournament at Ephraim, Utah. Holmstead shot 17-of-20 from the field and was 9-of-11 at the free-throw line.

SLCC held a 53-31 halftime lead.

Sofia Hepworth came up with nine steals, one shy of the SLCC school record of 10. Hepworth also added 15 points with five assists. Jami Mokofisi was one rebound short of a double-double, finishing with 17 points and nine boards.

Salt Lake shot 60% from the field for the game and controlled the boards with a 41-21 advantage over Northwest College.

Salt Lake (3-0) will hit the hardwoods again today at 5:30 p.m. against Eastern Idaho at the Snow College tournament.

MEN'S BASKETBALL: The Salt Lake Community College men's basketball team won its fourth straight game with a 91-77 victory over Hill Air Force Base on Friday night in Taylorsville.

The Bruins out rebounded Hill AFB 50-27 while four Bruins finished in double digits.

Alfonzo Hubbard led SLCC with 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting with 15 rebounds. Charles Joseph drained 8-of-11 shots for 20 points. Steven Liebert came off the bench to score 11 and Given Kalipinde was 6-of-8 from the field for 13 points.

Salt Lake (4-0) will look to "defend the den" as its faces Mesa College today at 5 p.m. in Bruin Arena. In the first game of the night Friday, Mesa battled to a seven-point win over Snow College 79-72. Snow College will play Hill Air Force Base at 3 p.m. today.
