It's time to see a favorite children's book brought to life on the stage, with "A Year With Frog and Toad," based on the stories of Arnold Lobel.
The University of Utah Youth Theatre sets the story along the Jordan River. The frog and toad help each other through the seasons, and some of life's ups and downs.
The musical was a first on Broadway, appealing to audiences of kids, ages 3-10.
Filled with catchy tunes by Robert and Willie Reale, the real message of the piece is that friendship and love are life's true joys. This is your chance to see the Youth Theatre production before it head overseas to the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland, next summer.
"A Year With Frog and Toad," Nov. 18-20, times vary, matinees available. Tickets are $5-$10 (801-581-7100 or www.kingtix.com.)
"T.I.C. (Trenchcoat In Common)" Nov. 15, Salt Lake Acting Company, 168 W. 500 North.
SLAC, currently performing Peter Sinn Nachtrieb's "Boom," offers a free staged reading of his latest work, "a ferociously comic exploration of privacy and loneliness in our modern world."
The free reading features Anne Cullimore Decker, Darrin Doman and Cheryl Gaysunas.
