High school football: Olympus coach Mike Smith stepping down, Aaron Whitehead to take helm
SALT LAKE CITY — Olympus football coach Mike Smith is stepping down. After leading the Titans to a 7-3 record and the 4A playoffs, Smith is going into administration.
Aaron Whitehead will be taking over as Olympus' coach. The former East coach —2003-2007 with a 39-21 record — and University of Utah graduate led the Leopards to back-to-back 4A semifinal appearances in 2005 and 2006. He left East to take a job at BYU, but is now getting back on the sidelines.
It is rumored that both Alta and possibly Skyline, for after Roger Dupaix steps down, had interest in the coach.

Aaron Whitehead is a fantastic coach. As one who has watched him progress from a part-time student teacher and assistant coach to a very capable head coach, I can definitively say that Olympus has pulled off a major coup. Kudos to the Titans and More..
Congrats Coach Smith. You will make a fine administrator. Good luck.
Coach Whitehead is a class act and will do well with the Olympus program.
